Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Overview
Frontend Digest ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes how we collect, use, and store information when you use frontenddigest.com, including when you create an account, sign in, or use the contact form.
Accounts and sign-in
You can sign in or create an account to access premium content. Sign-in is provided via Google, GitHub, or email (magic link). We use NextAuth.js (Auth.js) and Supabase to run authentication and store account and session data.
When you sign in, we collect and store:
- Email address
- Name and profile image (if provided by the sign-in provider you choose)
- Account and session identifiers (to keep you signed in and to control access to premium content)
If you complete your profile (e.g. on onboarding or in your account), we also store your display name, audience (e.g. "Senior Developer"), and topic preferences (tags you’re interested in). This is used only to personalize your experience and is not shared with third parties for marketing.
This data is used only to provide your account, to keep you signed in, and to grant access to premium articles. We do not use it for marketing or share it with third parties for their marketing. The sign-in providers (Google, GitHub, and Resend for email) process data in accordance with their own privacy policies: Google, GitHub, Resend, and Supabase.
Information we collect
We do not collect personal data simply by you visiting or reading public content on this site.
When you use the contact form (feedback, topic suggestions, or general enquiries), we collect:
- Name (if you provide it)
- Email address
- Type of enquiry (feedback, suggest a topic, general enquiry)
- Message content
This information is used only to respond to your message and is not used for marketing or shared with third parties for their marketing.
How the contact form works
The contact form is powered by Netlify Forms. When you submit the form, your data is sent to Netlify's servers and stored there so we can read and reply to your message. Netlify may process and store this data in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. We do not receive or store your form submissions on our own servers; we access them via the Netlify dashboard to respond to you.
Retention and your rights
We keep contact form submissions only as long as needed to respond and for a short period for record-keeping. Account and session data is retained for as long as your account exists; when you sign out or ask us to delete your account, we remove or anonymize your data in line with our systems and applicable law.
You can ask us to delete your submission, your account, or any other personal data we hold by contacting us (e.g. via the contact form, noting "Privacy request" or "Delete my account", or emailing hello@frontenddigest.com). We will comply with your request within a reasonable time, subject to applicable law.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication and sessions—for example, to keep you signed in and to remember your session. These are necessary for the account and premium content features and do not require your consent.
We also use minimal first-party analytics (e.g. page views and anonymised usage) to understand how the site is used. We ask for your consent before using analytics: when you first visit, a cookie banner appears at the bottom of the page. If you click "Accept", we will set a preference and send analytics events to our own systems only (no third-party advertising or tracking). You can revoke this at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.
Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when we do. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
